On March 1, 2003 the Wassokeag Snowmobile Club sponsored "Ice Wars 2003" and North Country Riding Club provided Horse Drawn Sleigh Rides. With the help of Hamilton Stables and the Thompson Farm, NCRC held our second annual sleigh ride on Saturday March 1st on the Crockett Road in Dexter. Children, Adults and families enjoyed a beautiful winter day and welcomed over 100 friends, & families for the Ice Wars and sleigh rides. Several local families attended and others drove from as far as Dover-Foxcroft, Newport and East Corinth to take part in the winter festivities. Several children and their families had the oppurtunity to take a 15 minute Horse Drawn sleigh ride through the pine fields at the Hamilton Stables/Thompson Farm on the Crockett road in Dexter. After enjoying a sleigh ride, many families walked down to Little Lake Wassokeag to watch the Ice Wars and have some lunch from the food wagon. NCRC offered hot chocolate and snacks, and the WSC offered a full lunch menu as the events lasted into late afternoon. |
