CENTRAL MAINE - What a great turnout for TROT's (Trail Riders of Today) 1st scavenger hunt. The weather was terrific for a nice leisurely 8 mile course filled with mystery and anticipation. 47 horse & riders tested their wits and skills at solving various clues, along an 8 mile course. Riders were paired together in groups ranging from 2 to 4 riders and sent out in intervals of 3 minutes. Each group had 3 minutes to solve the clue and find the hidden object, pick the wrong object and lose points or pick the surprise object to gain extra points. Points were awarded for coming in on time and taken away for coming in too soon.

TROT would like to extend an extra “Thank you” to Jill Brooks for all of her help in organizing the scavenger hut, developing the clues, hiding the objects and the overall managing of the scavenger hunt. Also, we would like to thank, Roy, Rita, Bill and Jayden Brooks for all of their help in designing the trail, marking the trail, the use of their property and cleaning up after the scavenger hunt. If we forgot anybody else that helped in the scavenger hunt, thank you for all of your help.

We would also like to recognize the following people for donating items for our raffle, Roy Brooks, Sue Manson, Katahdin Trail Saddlery, Sandy & Rob Kerr and TROT.

Each group came up with a name to represent their group, all were unique. Prizes were awarded for the group that located the most objects, came back within the closest time to the ultimate time and answered the trivia questions correctly.

The team “Half Moon” team, received 50 points for finding all the hidden objects, 25 points for coming in at 2hours 45 minutes, 5 points for answering the (1) correct trivia question for a total of 80 points. The “Half Moon” team consisted of Karen Clukey, Thomas Clukey, MaryEtta Cyr and Tonya Ronco. The group received nice halters with matching lead lines. Lead lines were donated by Katahdin Trail Saddlery.
